RAMALLAH, Thursday, February 27, 2020 (WAFA) – Vandalism of Palestinian property and attacks by settlers against Palestinian towns were highlighted on the front page of today’s issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
They said settlers slashed tires of cars and wrote racist graffiti in the village of Yasouf in the north of the West Bank and broke into the city of Nablus under army protection. Residents in Nablus clashed with the settlers causing some injuries among at least 20 Palestinians from Israeli army firepower.
The papers also reported on the meetings of European Parliament delegation in Ramallah with Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh and Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) official Saeb Erekat.
They also said the government wrote Amazon e-commerce company asking it to remedy its racist policy against Palestinians in the occupied territories.
Al-Ayyam said Israeli police released cartographer Khalil Toufakji after holding and questioning him for three hours, while they extended the detention of the commerce chamber official, Kamal Obeidat, until today.
It also said the Health Ministry has re-confirmed absence of coronavirus in Palestine while banning entry of tourists from nine countries infected with the disease.
Al-Quds said the disease is causing panic around the world as it spreads to several countries.
It also said that meetings between Palestinian factions are going to be held in Cairo to continue discussion on ending the intra-Palestinian division.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted on its front page the position of US presidential contender Bernie Sanders from the Palestinian issue and his criticism of the Israeli premier calling him a racist, reported as well in al-Quds and al-Ayyam dailies, which said Sanders committed himself to returning the US embassy in Israel to Tel Aviv if elected president.
