RAMALLAH, Monday, February 24, 2020 (WAFA) – The borderline incident yesterday involving an Israeli military bulldozer dragging the body of a slain Palestinian dominated the front page headlines in today’s issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
The dailies reported that Israeli forces killed a Palestinian to the east of Khan Yunis city in the southern besieged Gaza Strip and then used a bulldozer to drag and mutilate his body before taking it away.
Al-Quds added that Israeli forces opened gunfire towards young Palestinian men who attempted to retrieve his body, injuring some.
The dailies printed photos showing the military bulldozer lifting the slain Palestinian’s body with the body hanging from its scoop.
According to al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida, Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett applauded using the bulldozer to drag the slain Palestinian’s body.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that Israeli warplanes conducted a series of airstrikes on Gaza as a barrage of rockets was launched into southern Israel.
Palestinian Health Minister Mai Kaileh was reported in the dailies stating that Palestine was still free of coronavirus infection.
Al-Quds said that Israel would quarantine some 200 South Korean visitors at a military facility in the Har Gilo colonial settlement, south of Jerusalem.
According to al-Quds and al-Ayyam, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Bennett inaugurated a new colonial settlement outpost in the southern West Bank city of Hebron.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida added in this regard that Israeli occupation authorities have advanced a plan to install an elevator at the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron.
Al-Quds said that 69 Israeli settlers barged their way into Jerusalem’s flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound under heavy police escort.
President Mahmoud Abbas was reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida vowing that the Palestinian people would stand united against all plots against the Palestinian national issue, in an apparent reference to the US so-called “peace plan”.
According to al-Hayat al-Jadida, Israeli occupation authorities have barred Jerusalem’s Palestinian Authority governor, Adnan Ghaith, entry to the West Bank for six months as well as of contacting local activists.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported Ireland and Spain slamming the Israeli colonial settlement construction as illegal and an obstacle to the two-state solution.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida highlighted the death of a Palestinian inmate inside a Hamas-run prison in Gaza.
Regionally, al-Quds said that Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani have discussed bilateral ties and regional developments.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida added in this regard that both leaders underscored the need to establish the independent Palestinian state.
According to al-Quds, Jordan tightened measures for Palestinians entering the kingdom as a precautionary measure against the spread of coronavirus.
Pope Francis was reported in al-Quds, al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida warning against “inequitable solutions” to the Middle East conflict.
