Weather: Temperature lower than average through Sunday; rain expected

RAMALLAH, Thursday, February 20, 2020 (WAFA) – Weather today is partly cloudy to cloudy and cold to very cold with no change in temperature, which remains below the annual average, said the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Scattered rain is expected on several areas with moderate to active, westerly to northwesterly wind and medium sea waves.

Temperature in Jerusalem and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 11°C and a low of 6°C and in Ramallah and Hebron, a high of 10°C and a low of 5°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, temperature is expected to reach a high of 20°C and a low of 11°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 17°C and a low of 11°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

While temperature is expected to rise on Friday and exceed the seasonal average, a low pressure front is expected to affect the region at night, paving the way to torrential rainfall and thunderstorms.

Saturday and Sunday’s temperature is expected to significantly drop with rain, thunderstorms and hail falling on most areas.

PMD warns people against floods in low areas and valleys, gusty winds, slippery roads and low visibility.
