RAMALLAH, Saturday, February 15, 2020 (WAFA)- Dozens of Palestinians protesting the American so-called deal of the century were injured yesterday in clashes with Israeli soldiers in the West Bank, today said the three Palestinian Arabic dailies on their front page.
They said the injuries occurred after the Israeli army used excessive force to quell the protesters.
Al-Ayyam quoted in its main front-page story Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying that the deal of the century guarantees US recognition of Israel’s illegal annexation of occupied territories while it places very difficult conditions on the Palestinians.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh telling his Kuwaiti counterpart in a meeting in Munich that any future talks with Israel should be done through a multilateral international mechanism.
Shtayyeh, said the paper, also met on the sideline of the security conference in Munich with 21 members of the US Congress from both major parties.
Al-Quds said thousands took to the streets in Jordan against the deal of the century.
It also said 55,000 Muslims attended the dawn and noon Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.
It quoted the EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell calling for a new European peace initiative in the region.
It also quoted Saeb Erekat, member of the Palestine Liberation Organization, calling on the British government to stick to its position on the illegal Israeli settlements.
Al-Ayyam said the firing of incendiary balloons out of Gaza into Israel has declined.
It said Germany and the Czech are going to defend Israel at the International Criminal Court.
It said Palestinians, Israelis and international activists demonstrated in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem against Israeli takeover of Palestinian homes and turning them over to Jewish settlers.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida quoted Palestine’s permanent delegate to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, saying that the unjust American plan encouraged Israel to proceed with its illegal activities.
