MUNICH, Friday, February 14, 2020 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh today morning arrived to Munich for Munich Security Conference.
Shtayyeh is expected to deliver an address before the 56th Munich Security Conference, in which he will reiterate Palestine’s rejection of the US ‘peace plan’ and highlight President Mahmoud Abbas’ efforts to mobilize international support to confront the plan and convene as international conference on the Palestinian question.
Dubbed “deal of the century”, the recently-revealed plan in fact cements Israel’s longstanding policy of permanent occupation, colonialism and apartheid over the Palestinian people.
Shtayyeh is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with international leaders, decision-makers and foreign ministers.
The Munich Security Conference, established in 1963, is an annual leading conference on international security policy. It provides a venue for official and non-official diplomatic initiatives and ideas to address the world’s most pressing security concerns.
This year’s edition, which kicks off Friday and runs until Sunday, will discuss a theme coined as “westlessness”, the loss of the common standing of what it means to be part of the West. The theme points to continued unease about the identity and purpose of the West.
The annual gathering will assemble over 450 high-profile decision-makers from around the world, including heads of states ministers, leading personalities of organizations, and high-ranking representatives from the fields of politics, business, academia and the civil society.
