RAMALLAH, Monday, February 3, 2020 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies published at home today continued to focus on the impact of the US so-called “peace plan” at home and abroad.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam highlighted the ongoing protests in the occupied territories against the plan and Israeli army crackdown on the protests leaving several people injured from either rubber bullets or teargas inhalation.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said popular support continues for President Mahmoud Abbas in his rejection of the American plan. It also highlighted the Arab and international rejection of the plan, which were also highlighted in the other two dailies.
The three papers said the Organization of Islamic Cooperation is going to meet today in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and the Arab parliaments will meet on Saturday to lay out plans for confronting the US deal.
Al-Ayyam published and discussed some points in the American plan, dubbed “Peace to Prosperity”, and quoted Palestinian official Saeb Erekat accusing Jared Kushner, the American author of the plan, of distorting the position of the Palestinian leadership.
It said Israel starts today implementing its decision to ban entry of Palestinian agricultural products into the Israeli market and the Palestinian government is expected to announced its response to this during its meeting today in Ramallah.
It also said the Palestinian factions in the West Bank have decided on their delegation that will go to Gaza for talks with Hamas and that they are waiting for Israeli permits before deciding on the date.
Al-Quds said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is going to visit Uganda today with expectation that the African country is going to move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
