President Abbas receives solidarity message from Turkish counterpart

RAMALLAH, Friday, January 31, 2020 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas today received a message of solidarity from his Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an.

In a phone conversation with Abbas, Erdo?an reiterated his country’s unstinted position in of Palestine and the just Palestinian cause.

“We stand with you as well as with our brothers in Palestine at this critical juncture,” he stated.

He slammed US President Donald Trump’s proposal, dubbed deal of the century, which cements Israel’s longstanding policy of permanent occupation, colonialism and apartheid over the Palestinian people.

He added that he shared Abbas’ view that the so-called “deal of the century” did not offer anything to the Palestinian people, was fully biased to Israel and consolidated the Israeli occupation and colonialism over the Palestinian people.

He pledged to support Palestine in all international forums and coordinate all moves with the Palestinian leadership, and noted that his country’s Foreign Minister  Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu would attend the Organization of Islamic Organization’s ministerial-level meeting, scheduled on Monday, to discuss means to face Trump’s plan.

Abbas thanked Erdo?an for his noble positions in support of the Palestinian people and stressed the importance of continuing to coordinate positions.

He confirmed that he plans to address the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on the plan.
