RAMALLAH, Saturday, December 14, 2019 (WAFA) – Palestinian administrative detainee in Israel, Ahmad Zahran, who has been on hunger strike for 83 consecutive days today, has lost 30 kilograms of his weight and his health has seriously deteriorated, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Commission.
It said in statement following a visit by the commission’s attorney to Zahran that the latter is being held at Kaplan hospital in Israel with his hands cuffed to his bed.
It said Zahran, 42, from Deir Abu Mishaal village near Ramallah, was taken to hospital by the Israel Prison Services few days ago following serious deterioration in his health after he stopped taking water and being unable to stand on his feet any more.
Zahran went on hunger strike to demand an end to his long administrative detention without charge or trial and based on secret evidence. He previously went on a similar hunger strike that lasted for 39 days after which he was released from administrative detention. He was later re-arrested and -placed in administrative detention once again, prompting his return to the protest hunger strike.
