RAMALLAH, Friday, December 13, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli military detention raids and ensuing confrontations across the West Bank besides to the vandalism of vehicles in a Palestinian town in northern Israel dominated the front page headlines in Friday’s issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam reported that vehicles were vandalized and anti-Arab slogans were spray-painted in the Palestinian village of Manshiya Zabda the Marj Ibn ‘Amer plain in northern Israel.
Al-Quds added that slogans smearing Islam’s Prophet Mohammad were also spray-painted.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that a Palestinian paramedic was injured from Israeli military gunfire and dozens others suffocated from tear gas canisters fired by Israeli forces during confrontations in the West Bank districts of Jerusalem, Ramallah and al-Bireh.
The dailies highlighted the latest spate of Israeli settlers’ attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank.
They said that Palestinians hurled stones at Palestinian vehicles traveling along the Jenin-Nablus Road.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida added that settlers sealed off the entrance to al-Eizariya town, east of Jerusalem.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said that Israeli forces detained 13 Palestinians, including a female student and several former prisoners, in multiple raids across the West Bank. According to al-Ayyam, detainees totaled 15.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that Israel admits that it placed 192 Palestinian children to foster families in Sweden between 1970 and 1990.
According to al-Quds, the Israeli High Court issued ordered the state to consider allowing Palestinians to access their lands at the site of the evacuated illegal settlement outpost of Amona, east of Ramallah.
It said that Palestine is leading international efforts aimed at pressurizing Israel to allow holding Palestinian legislative elections in Jerusalem.
The dailies said that the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination accepted jurisdiction with regards to inter-state communication submitted by Palestine against Israel.
Al-Quds published a feature story titled Life under Israeli Military Occupation: A way paved with hurdles.
According to al-Hayat al-Jadida, the Palestinian government called on Coalition for Accountability and Transparency Palestine (AMAN) to ensure accurate reporting.
Al-Ayyam said that Israeli occupation authorities bar Gaza’s Christians from visiting Bethlehem and Jerusalem at Christmas.
It added that US crews are proceeding with the refurbishment of the US-Israeli field hospital being set up in the northern besieged Gaza Strip.
It also reported that Israeli occupation authorities released the mayor and council member of the Jerusalem neighborhood of Shufat.
Regionally, the dailies reported Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi warning that Israel’s plan to annex the Jordan Valley would kill the two-state solution and bring decades of the peace process to an end.
Safadi made his remarks during a meeting with the Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Executive Committee Saeb Erekat in Amman.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida spotlighted the 112th session of the Arab Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALESCO) in Amman.
They elaborated that ALESCO has adopted a set of resolutions in favor of Jerusalem and Palestine.
It added that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) contributed USD$ 25 to the United Nations agency responsible for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).
Al-Quds reported the ministers of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs stressed the importance of safeguarding Islamic sites in Jerusalem.
The ministers made their remarks during the 12th session of the Executive Council of the Awqaf Ministers’ Conference in Amman.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said that the Palestine date tree was placed on the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
