President Abbas discusses situation in Palestine with China’s peace envoy

RAMALLAH, Saturday, December 06, 2019 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas received today at his office in Ramallah, the central West Bank, the newly appointed Chinese envoy for the Middle East peace process, Zhai Juan, and discussed with him the latest developments on the situation in Palestine.

The President briefed the Chinese envoy on the ongoing preparations for holding the presidential and legislative elections in Palestine, in addition to Israel’s continued violations of the agreements signed with the Palestinians through its settlement building policy and the daily detention campaigns of Palestinian civilians.

President Abbas also underscored the important role that China can play to achieve peace in the Middle East, especially after the United States lost its position as an honest broker in the peace process with its growing alignment with the Israeli occupation’s policies.

On the other side, the Chinese envoy reiterated his country’s commitment to achieve the just rights of the Palestinian people, on top of which is the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
