RAMALLAH, Wednesday, December 04, 2019 (WAFA) - The latest demolition of Palestinian structures and seizure of Palestinian land in the occupied territories dominated the front page headlines in Wednesday’s issue of the three Palestinian Arabic dailies.
The dailies reported that Israeli occupation authorities demolished two water tanks in Tubas district in the northern Jordan Valley.
They added that Israeli occupation authorities delivered notifications to seize plots of land belonging to al-Jab‘a village, located to the south of Bethlehem city.
On the other hand, al-Hayat al-Jadida opted to spotlight the Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Executive Committee’s meeting in its main front page news item.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said that the PLO Executive Committee cautioning against the nefarious aim behind the US-Israeli field hospital to be set up in the northern Gaza Strip.
The committee elaborated that the nefarious aim is to consolidate the intra-Palestinian division and separate the Gaza Strip from the West Bank.
Al-Quds said in this regard that the PLO Executive Committee discussed the latest political developments and issues related to the domestic situation.
President Mahmoud Abbas’ meeting with Ireland’s Foreign Minister Simon Coveney at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah also hit the front page headlines in the dailies.
Abbas was reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida stressing the importance of holding elections as soon as possible.
He was also reported in al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam stating that ongoing Israeli colonial settlement would ruin the prospects of a real peace based on the legitimate international resolutions.
The dailies said that Abbas received separate phone calls from senior Hamas officials Khaled Meshaal and Ismail Haniyeh, who expressed their condolences on the passing of former presidential advisor Ahmad Abdul-Rahman
According to al-Quds and al-Ayyam, Israeli settlers barged their way to the archeological site of Sebastia, northwest of Nablus city, and to Jerusalem’s flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
Al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that a Palestinian young man was injured from Israeli military gunfire in al-Arroub refugee camp, located to the north of Hebron.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported that Israeli forces conducted multiple raids across the West Bank, detaining 13 Palestinians, including a minor.
Al-Ayyam said that Israeli forces sealed Palestinian roads to the north of the West Bank city of Tulkarem.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said that Palestinian prisoner in the Israeli jail of Askalan (Ashkelon) will start today an open-ended hunger strike.
According to al-Hayat al-Jadida, Ahmad Zahran and Mosab al-Hindi, two Palestinians who have been hunger striking for over 70 days in protest of their administrative detention by Israel, were rushed to hospital following the deterioration of the health.
It added that Israel prevented Malaysian officials entry to the occupied Palestinian territories.
Al-Quds said that a delegation of the Islamic Jihad arrived to Cairo to hold discussions ]with the Egyptian intelligence[ on several issues.
Premier Mohammad Shtayyeh was reported in al-Ayyam and al-Hayat al-Jadida calling for an international alliance against the Israeli and US actions in violation of international law.
Regionally, the dailies said that Saudi monarch Salman bin Abdelaziz Al Saud has invited Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamas Al Thani to attend the 40th session of the Gulf Cooperation Council to be held in Riyadh.
Al-Quds said that Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu and head of Blue-White Party former military chief Benny Gantz failed to make any progress on the formation of a unity government.
Al-Ayyam highlighted Israeli media reports that Washington has offered the Gulf states and Morocco assistance to conclude a non-aggression treaty with Israel.
It also reported Israeli security officials warning that Israel’s ‘annexation’ of the Jordan Valley would imperil the peace treaty with Jordan.
According to al-Hayat al-Jadida, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has listed Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on the exclusive List of Islamic Heritage Sites in the Islamic world.
