Presidency condemns new Israeli settlement plan in Hebron

RAMALLAH, Sunday, December 1, 2019 (WAFA) – The presidency condemned the Israeli new settler project announced today by Israel’s new defense minister, Naftali Bennett, regarding the establishment of a settler neighborhood in Hebron’s wholesale market.

The presidency affirmed that this Israeli announcement represents the first tangible result of the administration of US President Donald Trump to legitimize settlement activity, which is a prelude for annexation.

The presidency said this Israeli plan constitutes a blatant violation of international law, UN resolutions, and signed agreements, slamming it as a new provocative step that is totally rejected.

The presidency held the Israeli government responsible for these crimes committed against the Palestinian people and their land, calling on the international community to promptly move to stand in the face of these Israeli measures and take concrete steps in response to this Israeli escalation, starting with a comprehensive boycott of Israeli colonial settlements.

The presidency reiterated once again that the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital is the only solution to achieve peace, security and stability in the region.
