RAMALLAH, Sunday, December 01, 2019 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused today on the fatal shooting by Israeli forces of a Palestinian teen in the West Bank town of Beit Awwa, near the city of Hebron, on Saturday evening.
The dailies said Israeli soldiers opened gunfire towards three Palestinian civilians near Beit Awwa, seriously injuring one of them, Badawi Khaled Masalmeh, 18 years old. He was left to bleed helplessly as the soldiers denied access of medics to the scene, and was announced dead of his critical wounds a few minutes later.
On a different subject, al-Ayyam said President Mahmoud Abbas called upon the European Union countries to collectively recognize the State of Palestine as an independent country.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said President Abbas emphasized the role the EU can play to salvage the Palestinian-Israeli peace process.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said the President received the response of Hamas movement regarding his call for legislative and presidential election in Palestine, and will be studying its content during the next few days.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said Christmas celebrations have kick-started in the biblical city of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank with the arrival in the city yesterday of the a of Christ’s crib.
The three dailies said thousands of Israelis protested in Tel Aviv on Saturday night calling upon Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resign.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said a report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in its biweekly Protection of Civilians Report that the Israeli authorities demolished or seized 39 structures in the West Bank in the past two weeks, displacing 63 Palestinians.
