Student struck by tear gas canister in face, others injured in Tulkarem sit-in protest

 

TULKAREM, Sunday, November 17, 2019 (WAFA) – A university student was critically injured after being struck with a tear gas canister in the face and two others were shot and injured with live ammunition in the foot as Israeli forces attacked a sit-in organized by students in Palestine Technical University - Kadoorie in support of injured photojournalist, Moath Amarneh, in Tulkarem, according to medical sources.

Medical sources at Tulkarm Public Hospital (Martyr Thabet Thabet Hospital) told WAFA a female student was admitted into the hospital with critical wounds to the face after being struck with a tear gas canister in the face, which caused her serious burns, a broken jaw and teeth. She was transferred to Rafidia surgical hospital in Nablus due to the seriousness of her injury.

Two other students were shot and injured in the foot. Their condition was described as moderate.

Dozens other suffocated due to tear gas inhalation. They were all treated at the scene.

photojournalist Moath Amarneh lost his left eye after being seriously injured by a metallic bullet fired by an Israeli soldier in the Surif region of the Hebron governorate, where he was covering a protest against land confiscation.
