Newspaper Review: Palestinian killed in Israeli airstrike in Gaza

RAMALLAH, Sunday, November 03, 2019 (WAFA) – The three Palestinian Arabic dailies focused today on the death of a Palestinian man yesterday, after he was seriously injured in the Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip during Friday-Saturday night.

They said Ahmad Mohammad Shahri, 27, from Khan Younis in the south of the Gaza Strip, died on Saturday morning of wounds sustained when a missile fired by Israeli warplanes hit an area near him.

On a different subject, al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Ayyam said Israeli occupation authorities ordered yesterday the confiscation of 500 dunums of Palestinian land in the village of Hizma, east of Jerusalem, and 124 dunums in the villages of Majdal Bani Fadel and Duma, to the south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank.

Al-Quds said Israeli police yesterday dispersed Palestinian protesters holding a sit-in in occupied Jerusalem in support of hunger-striking detainees in Israeli jails.

The three dailies said dozens of Arab and Israeli peace activists protested outside the Israeli prison of Ramle calling for the immediate release of Heba al-Labadi, a Jordanian detainee in Israeli jails who has been on hunger strike for 40 days in protest of her administrative detention, without a charge or trial.

Al-Quds said illegal Israeli settlers set up makeshift tents on a land belonging to Palestinians from the West Bnak town of Jayyous, apparently in an attempt to take it over by force.

Al-Quds said Palestinian intelligence chief Majed Faraj recently held talks in Washington with senior US Central Intelligence Agency officials.

Al-Ayyam said dozens of thousands of Lebanese took to the streets in Tripoli, northern Lebanon, yesterday in protest of state corruption.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said thousands of Iraqis continued to protest in Baghdad calling for overthrow of the current government and regime.
