PA official among 28 Palestinians Israel detains in West Bank

 

HEBRON, Tuesday, February 25, 2020 (WAFA) – Israeli forces today detained 28 Palestinians, including a Palestinian Authority official, and ransacked civilian houses in multiple raids across the occupied West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoner Society (PPS).

It said in a press release that Israeli forces detained two Palestinians in Ramallah, including Assistant Deputy Interior Minister Kamal Ayyash and his 27-year-old son.

Soldiers also carried out several raids across the southern West Bank district of Hebron, including the city itself, along with Beit Ummar, Dura and Tarqumia towns, located to the north and southwest of Hebron, resulting in the detention of 16 Palestinians.

One of the detainees was identified a Fatah member from Hebron city and another as an undergraduate student in Palestine Polytechnic University.

An Israeli military raid was conducted in Qalandia village, west of Jerusalem, resulting in the detention of an undergraduate student enrolled in Birzeit University.

In the northern West Bank, Israeli military stormed Balata refugee camp near Nablus city, where soldiers detained three Palestinians.

Soldiers conducted a similar raid in Askar refugee camp, northeast of Nablus city, resulting in the detention of another.

In Tulkarm district, Israeli soldiers barged into Dhanaba neighborhood, east of Tulkarm city, nabbing a Palestinian.

Soldiers rounded up another after ransacking the house of his parents in Far‘oun village, south of Tulkarm.

In Jenin district, soldiers rearrested a former prisoner who spent 12 years behind Israeli bars from Jenin refugee camp.

He was identified as Jibril Zubeidi, the brother of former commander for Fatah’s military wing, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Zakaria Zubeidi.

Meanwhile, PPS said that Israeli police rounded up two Palestinians from Jerusalem.
