Amidst tension at al-Aqsa Mosque, extremist Jewish lawmaker leads fanatics into the holy place

JERUSALEM, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 (WAFA) – Extremist Jews lead by member of the Israeli parliament Yehuda Glick held a provocative tour today of al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied city of Jerusalem, despite tension in one of Islam’s holiest sites, according to WAFA correspondent.

Israeli police provided Glick and his entourage in their provocative tour of the holy place, particularly Bab al-Rahma area of the Mosque where tension has been high over the last week after hundreds of Palestinian worshippers broke a clock Israeli police had placed at a building by Bab al-Rahma and held prayers inside it for the first time since the area was closed to Muslim worshipping by Israeli authorities in 2003.

Meanwhile, Israeli police commander for the Jerusalem district and commander of the Israeli security also toured Bab al-Rahma today in the company of several police officers, said WAFA correspondent.

Israeli Minister of Agriculture Uri Ariel yesterday also led another provocative tour of the Muslim holy place as well as in the area of Bab al-Rahma.

Muslim officials have condemned the performance of Jewish rituals inside the Muslim compound since rules do not allow non-Muslims from performing any religious rituals in the Mosque.

Minister of Waqf Yousef Ideis said the Israeli violations of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque have reached a serious stage and harms Muslim feelings.
