Gaza, June 17, 2026 (WAFA) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Wednesday that it facilitated the transfer of three released detainees from the Kerem Shalom crossing to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the Gaza Strip.
The committee stated in a press release that it also facilitated the released detainees’ contact with their families and their reunification.
It added that since 2023, it has assisted in the transfer of more than 2,500 released detainees through this mechanism.
The ICRC affirmed that it has been unable to access Palestinian detainees held in Israeli detention facilities since October 2023, renewing its call for information on the fate and whereabouts of all detainees and for permission to visit and monitor their conditions.
It stressed the need to treat detainees humanely in accordance with international humanitarian law, ensure acceptable detention conditions, and allow them to maintain contact with their families.
The committee noted that many Palestinian families are anxiously awaiting news about their detained relatives amid concerns over their health and safety, adding that it continues its dialogue with Israeli authorities to resume visits to all Palestinian detainees.
