RAMALLAH, June 17, 2026 (WAFA) - The Government of India released USD 2.5 million to the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), according to the Representative Office of India to Palestine.
It said that the Indian government provided US $2.5 million to UNRWA as part of its annual contribution of US $5 million for the year 2026-27 to support the Agency’s core programmes and services, including education, healthcare and relief efforts provided to Palestinian refugees.
During her participation at the UNRWA ADCOM meeting held today in Amman, Representative of India to the State of Palestine, Mahima Sikand, underlined the Government of India's continued support for the Agency’s services to Palestinian refugees and handed over the contribution to the Agency’s Director of Partnerships, Karim Amer.
Amer expressed appreciation to the Government of India for its continued support to the Agency, including as the top emerging donor for the Agency over the past three years.
