JENIN, Tuesday, February 12, 2019 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained 12 Palestinians in multiple overnight raids across the West Bank, said the Palestine Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
Israeli military vehicles raided Jenin refugee camp, where soldiers detained five Palestinians after storming their families houses.
The overnight raid into the camp triggered confrontations, during which soldiers opened fire towards youthful protestors, injuring a protestor with a live round in his knee.
Meanwhile, undercover Israeli forces, known as Musta‘ribeen, kidnapped a Palestinian and his son after breaking into their house in Wadi Burqin neighborhood, west of Jenin city.
Elsewhere in the northern West Bank, PPS confirmed that a Palestinian and his brother were rounded up from Tulkarem district.
In the meantime, PPS said that Israeli forces conducted a raid into Deir Istiya, north of Salfit, and detained a Palestinian.
In Hebron district, forces detained two Palestinians, including a 16-year-old teen, in a raid into Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron.
Security sources told WAFA that the soldiers seized the private vehicle of one of the two detainees.
Security sources also confirmed another raid into Hebron city, during which soldiers ransacked the house of former minister Issa al-Jaabari, wreaked havoc inside and seized cash.
Israeli forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost on a daily basis across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids, which take place also in areas under the full control of the Palestinian Authority, are conducted with no need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses in keeping with its sweeping arbitrary powers.
