RAMALLAH, Monday, February 11, 2019 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to arrive in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, later Monday on an official two-day state visit coming from Addis Ababa where he attended the African Union summit, according Palestinian ambassador to Saudi Arabia Bassam al-Agha.
He told WAFA in a phone interview that the President is expected to meet with King Salman bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia and brief him on the latest developments in Palestine, especially the dangers facing Jerusalem.
Agha said that the visit is a continuation of the communication between the two leaderships in light of the difficult international circumstances and attempts to end the Palestinian issue.
He praised the position and support of Saudi Arabia toward the Palestinian cause, pointing to the $150 Saudi contribution to the Islamic Waqf (Endowment) in Jerusalem and $50 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees.
