Government says Palestinians with Israeli citizenship need permission to rent in West Bank

RAMALLAH, Tuesday, January 08, 2019 (WAFA) – The Palestinian government said on Tuesday that Palestinians with Israeli citizenship need to have permission before they can rent in the West Bank.

It said, according to a statement issued at the conclusion of the weekly cabinet meeting in Ramallah, that this procedure is intended for organizational purposes only and it should not take more than two weeks to give an answer after an application is submitted.

“It is intended to protect the public interest,” said the cabinet without giving any more details.

Palestinians from occupied East Jerusalem who have Israeli residency but not citizenship since Israel has annexed the city after its occupation in 1967 are exempt from this procedure, said the cabinet.
