Premier gives assurances of continued support for prisoners in Israeli jails

RAMALLAH, August 13, 2018 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah assured a delegation from the Prisoners’ Affairs Commission on Monday of continued government support for Palestinians held in Israeli jails.

Hamdallah told the delegation headed by Qadri Abu Baker, the new head of the commission, that despite the Israeli government’s decision to punish the Palestinian Authority by deducting from its tax revenues the amount of money it pays to prisoners, it will not stop paying these stipends.

“We will continue to provide all types of support for the Prisoners’ Commission in spite of the challenges in order to serve our heroic prisoners held in occupation prisons,” the prime minister told the delegation. “The prisoners are at the top of the pyramid of the Palestinian struggle and they are the ones who sacrificed and lost years of their life for the sake of our just cause.”
