RAMALLAH, August 8, 2018 (WAFA) – The Israel Prison Service freed late Tuesday night Mohammad Rimawi, 27, who has been on hunger strike for 20 days and his father Nimr Rimawi, 54, according to the Prisoners’ Affairs Commission.

Rimawi was detained on July 19 following a raid at his home in Beit Rima, northwest of Ramallah, and immediately went on hunger strike to protest his arrest.

Days later, the Israeli army detained his father, Nimr, in an attempt to pressure the son to end his hunger strike and sign confession paper, but without success.

Rimawi continued in the hunger strike and as his health deteriorated the prison administration decided to release him.

He was brought to Ramallah hospital where he was admitted for treatment to help him regain his health.

Rimawi had spent three years in prison for resisting the Israeli occupation and was released on January 7.
