RAMALLAH, July 28, 2018 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Information Saturday maintained that the continued Israeli aggression against Palestinian journalists and media institutions, is an inevitable result to the United Nations Security Council‘s failure to insure the implantation of its resolution 2222; on the protection of journalists and ensuring accountability for crimes committed against them.
The ministry said in a statement issued following the injury of Palestinian journalist, Lo’ay Samhan, who was injured as Israeli forces quelled the weekly and peaceful anti-settlement demonstration in the village of Kufr Qaddoum to the east of Qalqilia earlier today.
Samhan, a cameraman working for Palestine TV and Associated Press, was shot and injured with a rubber-coated steel bullet in the leg while he was covering the weekly demonstration in Kufr Qaddoum.
The ministry appealed to the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) and Reporters Without Borders (RWB), to work to ensure the protection of Palestinian journalists and institutions, slamming Israel’s continued attacks against journalists as terrorism that care for international resolutions and repeatedly violates charters that guarantee protection for journalists.
