JERUSALEM, March 1, 2018 (WAFA) – Britain’s Prince William is expected to visit Palestine and Israel in the summer, Kensington Palace announced on Thursday.
A press statement by the British Consulate in Jerusalem said the “Duke of Cambridge will visit the Occupied Palestinian Territories later this year at the invitation of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The visit will promote cultural and diplomatic ties between the British and Palestinian people.”
William’s visit to the region will include Israel and Jordan.
“The Duke of Cambridge, who is the second in line to the throne, regularly visits the UK‘s partners around the world in order to strengthen the bonds of friendship that underpin the UK‘s important relationships,” said the consulate’s statement.
"I am delighted that Prince William has accepted President Abbas‘ invitation to visit the Occupied Palestinian Territories in the summer,” said British Consul General Philip Hall commenting on the visit. “This will be a unique and special opportunity for His Royal Highness to meet Palestinian people and see the reality of life in the Holy Land. I know he is looking forward to the visit enormously."
