RAMALLAH, February 25, 2018 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) on Sunday reported cases of maltreatment by Israeli forces against detained Palestinians, including physical assault and homes’ vandalism.
Hazem Sharawneh said Israeli forces raided his home at 2 am; beat him, before taking him to “Karmi Tsour” illegal settlement for interrogation. They kept him until 8 am and he suffered from harsh cold conditions.
Anas Rashid also reported being physically abused during arrest after Israeli troops raided his home and ransacked it in a barbaric way, vandalized home contents, mixed up cooking materials, and terrified children.
Detained siblings, Abdelhadi and Tamer Dib also reported being severely beaten up by Israeli soldiers when they broke into their home, damaged the doors and ransacked it. They were taken to the “Kiryat Arba” illegal settlement.
Meanwhile, Safwan and Mohammad Eida told PPS that they were beaten before Israeli forces released them, noting that their family members were assaulted by Israeli settler groups.
Maher Juneidi and Mahmoud Jaffal also pointed out that they were physically assaulted before being transferred for interrogation.
Human rights organizations have long denounced mistreatment of Palestinian detainees, including children, by Israeli forces.
According to a report by the Military Court Watch (MCW) based on testimonies from 127 children detained by Israel in 2016, 94 percent reported being hand tied, 81 percent of children reported being blindfolded or hooded, and 64 percent of children reported being subjected to various forms of physical abuse.
