RAMALLAH, February 23, 2018 (WAFA) – An autopsy performed on the body of Yasin Omar Saradeeh, who was pronounced dead shortly after Israeli forces detained him on Thursday morning following clashes in Jericho, revealed that Saradeeh died from a live bullet shot by Israeli forces at a point-blank range into his lower abdomen, the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission said in a statement on Friday.
The autopsy revealed that the bullet entered Saradeeh’s lower abdomen, causing an internal bleeding and the rupture of the artery and the vein before exiting from his back, which refutes Israeli claims that he died as a result of tear gas inhalation.
The Israeli army informed Saradeeh’s family of his death while in detention, claiming he suffered convulsions after inhaling tear gas fired by the Israeli army during confrontations.
The autopsy also revealed fractures in the pelvic area and traces of bruises in the head, chest, neck and shoulders.
The autopsy was carried out in Israel’s Abu Kabir Forensic Institute, and attended by Palestinian pathologist Rayyan al-Ali after Israel agreed to his participation.
