Israeli forces injure minor during clashes west of Ramallah

RAMALLAH, February 23, 2018 (WAFA) – Israeli forces Friday afternoon injured a Palestinian minor during clashes with Palestinians in Al-Janiya village, west of Ramallah, said witnesses.

Israeli forces cracked down on Palestinians who rallied after Friday prayer, injuring a 15-year-old minor with a live round in the thigh.

The minor was rushed to Ramallah Medical Complex, where he underwent a surgery to stop bleeding.

Meanwhile, Palestinians held a rally in protest of US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in Bilin village, west of Ramallah.

Protestors raised photos of Palestinian prisoners, notably iconic teen Ahed Tamimi and shouted slogans condemning the Israeli occupation as they proceeded to the section of Israel’s apartheid wall built on the village lands.

A similar rally was reported at the northern entrance of al-Bireh city, near the Israeli settlement of Beit El.

Israeli forces showered protestors with tear gas canisters, causing a number of suffocation cases.

This came as soldiers suppressed a concurrent anti-settlement construction rally in in al-Mazra‘a al-Gharbiyya village, west of Ramallah.

They cracked down on Palestinians who rallied to their lands, which were illegally seized by Israel for the construction of a settler-only by-pass road, opening fire towards them.

Many suffocation cases were reported and tear gas canisters set olive trees ablaze.

The road reportedly would connect the Israeli settlements of Ateret, Halamish and Telmon together, isolating hundreds of dunums of Palestinian land.
