Israel demolishes Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem neighborhood

JERUSALEM, October 17, 2017 (WAFA) – Bulldozers for the Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem demolished on Tuesday two Palestinian homes in the occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan under the pretext they were built without a permit, according to WAFA correspondent.

He said the homes, which belonged to the Abu Rajab family, were emptied of their content before the bulldozers demolished them.

Two other homes also slated for demolition in Silwan and the neighborhood of Issawiyeh for construction without permit were spared at the last minute after owners presented court orders preventing the demolitions until end of hearings.

Palestinians say they are forced to build without permit because getting permit from the all-Israeli municipality is impossible.

Israel, as part of its demographic war with the Palestinians, plans to keep the number of Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem to a minimum while multiplying the number of Jews in the city by building illegal settlements and thousands of homes for Jews while denying Palestinians building permits.
