Rubber-coated injuries, suffocation cases in clashes with Israeli army in Ramallah

AL-BIREH/RAMALLAH, October 6, 2017 (WAFA) – At least 12 Palestinians were injured on Friday during clashes that broke out between Palestinians and Israeli forces in Um-Sharayet area to the south of al-Bireh, in the Ramallah district, said medical sources.

Israeli forces stormed Um Sharayet and proceeded to raid residential buildings in the area, provoking clashes with local residents.

Forces heavily fired rubber-coated steel bullets, tear gas canisters, and stun grenades against residents, causing dozens to suffocate due to tear gas inhalation.

Two Palestinians were shot with rubber bullets, which necessitated their transfer to hospital for treatment.

The Palestinian Red Crescent (PRC) said its crews dealt with at least 11 other injury cases.

Two Palestinians were also detained during the military raid.
