RAMALLAH, January 24, 2017 (WAFA) – Druze villages in Israel declared a one-day general strike on Tuesday to protest Israeli authorities’ policy of home demolitions and refusal to expand the surface area allocated to the various municipalities.
Under the slogans: “No to the policy of demolitions,” “No to the policy of humiliation,” “No to the policy of discrimination,” villagers in the Galilee, northern Israel, are planning a protest march in the afternoon hours.
Arabs in Israel have been protesting a new wave of home demolitions carried out by the Israeli authorities in the Arab town of Qalansowa in the center of the country, and the village of Umm al-Hiran in the Naqab desert in the south.
Hundreds of Arab-owned homes are at risk of demolition by the Israeli authorities for lacking construction permit.
