RAMALLAH, November 29, 2016 (WAFA) – The seventh conference of Fatah movement started on Tuesday at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah its 4-day sessions in the presence of President Mahmoud Abbas, chairman of the movement.
The participants of the conference, estimated at 1400 members of Fatah from the West Bank, Gaza and exile, were counted to make sure that they represent a quorum.
After the roll-call and reaching a quorum, Abbas announced the official start of the conference, describing it as the conference of the independent national decision and national unity.
President Abbas is scheduled to deliver an important and comprehensive speech at the official opening session of the conference on Tuesday evening in which he will give a clear vision of the next period on the road to independence, liberation and the establishment of the independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to his spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh.
Some 60 delegates from 28 countries are also going to attend the evening session.
The conference is expected to elect 18 members for the Central Council, the decision-making body of Fatah, and another 80 members for the Revolutionary Council. However, three more members are going to be appointed to the Central Committee toi make the total members 21, and around 40 will be appointed to the Revolutionary Council to bring the total to 120.
