NEW YORK, May 7, 2026 (WAFA) – Rats bite children in the night in their tents in the Gaza Strip, the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) said on Thursday.
“Rats bite children in the night in their tents while they sleep,” UNRWA posted on X.
It stressed the urgent need to allow the entry of more tents, insecticides, and medications into the blockaded Strip.
“In Gaza, an already vulnerable population is at much higher risk of disease due to the displacement, overcrowded tents, lack of clean water, and broken sanitation systems,” it added.
It noted that it was working closely with the World Health Organization and local partners to track the rise of skin infections and risks of disease.”
