QALQILYA, May 8, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities on Friday handed over the body of Palestinian man Khaled Nemer Qaraan, 34, from the city of Qalqilya, months after withholding it since his killing in September last year.
The handover took place at an Israeli military checkpoint east of Qalqilya, where relatives and representatives of the Palestinian Civil Affairs Authority received the body before it was transferred to Darwish Nazzal Governmental Hospital in preparation for burial.
According to reports, Qaraan was killed during an Israeli raid on Qalqilya after being pursued along with another Palestinian, Waseem Khalil Abu Ali, by an undercover Israeli unit. Israeli forces opened fire on their vehicle, critically injuring both men, who later died, before their bodies were taken and held.
While Qaraan's body was returned, the body of Abu Ali remains withheld by Israeli authorities.
