RAMALLAH, August 4, 2016 (WAFA) – The Palestine News Agency WAFA monitored incitement and racism published in the Israeli media against Palestinians and Arabs between July 22 and 28, 2016.
The 297 issue of the report published on Thursday reviewed articles and op-ed published by Israeli writers and journalists, which incite against Palestinians and Arabs both directly and indirectly.
Yediot Ahronot newspaper published an article on July 25 by Gilad Sharon, the son of former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, in which he claimed that “Palestinians prey on Zionism.”
He said, “Many have come after Zionism was established to earn a living. Their fake nationalism would have never existed or remained without us.”
Sharon falsely claimed that Palestinians never wanted to establish a state, but only destroy Israel.
“The idea behind the removal law [allows MKs to oust their colleagues at the Knesset], which was okayed these days is to public expression and support of Palestinian nationalism and its violent expressions supported by Arab members of the Knesset.”
He went on to question the existence of Palestinian nationalism and Palestinians’ desire to establish a state of their own, saying that if Palestinians agreed to the partition plan in 1947, they would have been enjoying a state as old as Israel by now.
“Did [Palestinians] work to establish their state? No. They tried to prevent establishing a Zionist state. The reason behind their rejection is obvious. They were not interested in a state for themselves. They were only interested in denying us that right.”
Meanwhile, “Israel Hayom” newspaper published an opinion piece on July 27 by Eddie Cohen in which he criticized President Mahmoud Abbas accused him of approving Nazi policies.
“Instead of extending his hand for peace, Abu Mazen [Abbas] who denies the disaster [Holocaust] adopts the policy of the Jerusalem Mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini and the Nazis; a policy that aims to destroy the Jewish state and its people.”
He said, while the Balfour declaration did support the establishment of a Jewish state, it didn’t deny Arabs a state of their own. Arabs rejected this several times; Abu Mazen was not the first to fight the Balfour declaration, as al-Husseini had fought the declaration relentlessly before him.
The Israeli daily newspaper “Yated Ne‘eman” published an article on July 27 in which the editors said, “Here in Israel, we have individuals who are not different in their satanic cruelty than their colleagues in the ‘Islamic state’”.
The article which was published under the title “From the Crusades to the Islamic Crusades”, read, “It was difficult to hear news about the attack against the church and not think about the Jewish blood spelled by the Church’s messengers; the crusades, the Inquisition, the brutal massacres and of course the daunting silence of the Christian church and those in charge regarding the trains, which roamed Europe heading to the gas chambers.”
“Back in those days, the Nazis partnered with the Muslim Mufti of Jerusalem. No one spoke about human rights, democracy or any other human aspect,” it read.
The editors said, “poor refugees” would crowd Europe tomorrow and create more murderers who will tear down westerners’ lives.
