RAMALLAH, June 2, 2016 (WAFA) –The new video footage showing an Israeli ambulance driver and forces manipulating crime scene following the execution of a young Palestinian man in Hebron last March hit the front page headlines in Palestinian dailies.
The three dailies reported that a new video footage surfaced showing a knife being kicked to the direction of Abdul Fattah al-Sharif, a young Palestinian who was shot dead by an Israeli soldier after he allegedly attempted to stab a soldier.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam reported that knife appears to be kicked by an Israeli soldier closer to the body of Abdul Fattah al-Sharif although other media outlets indicated that it was an Israeli ambulance driver who did so.
It is worth noting in this regard that the footage disapproves claims by Israeli soldier who shot al-Sharif in the head at point-blank range in plain view of an Israeli medical team.
The French bid to convene a multilateral peace conference in Paris also hit the front page headlines in the dailies.
Al-Ayyam reported French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault as stating that the conference is intended to restore hope in peace.
It also reported him as stating that the purpose of convening the conference is to help salvage the two-state solution and revive the long-dormant Arab Peace Initiative.
Al-Quds and al-Hayat al-Jadida said in this regard that 30 foreign ministers are scheduled to meet in Paris on Friday to “revive the peace process”.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam reported Egypt Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry denying rumors that the French peace bid involves seeing Egypt concede parts of Sinai for the resettlement of Palestinians.
Besides, al-Quds said led by Israeli Interior Minister, Aryeh Deri, dozens Israeli settlers stormed the shrine of Joseph Tomb in Nablus.
It also noted that Israeli forces shot and injured two Palestinians near the northern West Bank city of Qalqilia.
It also said forces showered Palestinian lands near the Jerusalem village of Qatanna with tear gas canisters, torching dozens of olive trees.
Al-Hayat al-Jadida said Israeli forces conducted large-scale detention raids across the West Bank, including Jerusalem, detaining dozens of Palestinians. It also said that forces detained Iran Al-Alam reporter in the Golan Heights.
Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said that following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s instructions, Israeli Jerusalem “municipal” staff stopped the construction of a toilet facility inside Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
Al-Quds highlighted plans to build a new UNRWA-run airport in Rafah with funds under US supervision and with funds made available from Italy.
