Israeli Forces Detain 16 Palestinians in West Bank Raids

BETHLEHEM, May 9, 2016 (WAFA) – Israeli forces detained overnight and Sunday evening 16 Palestinians, including two minors, during raids across the West Bank, said security sources.

Forces detained seven Palestinians from Bethlehem district, six others from Jerusalem district, two others from Nablus district and another from Jenin.

Forces detained six members of the same family after storming and ransacking their family houses in al-Khader town, south of Bethlehem.

The detainees were identified as Zeiniddin Issa, 18, Qasem Issa, 18, Hussein Issa, 18, Ahmad Issa, 18, Rabee‘ Issa, 18, and Ali Issa, 18.

Iyad Taqatqa, 20, was detained during a predawn raid into Beit Fajjar town, south of Bethlehem.

During the raid, forces broke into and ransacked a number of houses.

Meanwhile, police detained four Palestinians during raids into the Jerusalem neighborhoods of al-Issawiya and Jabal al-Mukabbir and Qalandya refugee camp, north of Jerusalem.

The detainees were identified as Firas Mahmoud and Mahmoud Atiyeh, 17, from al-Issawiyeh, Rami Odaha from Qalandya refugee camp and Muhammad Mashahra from Jabal al-Mukabbir.

This came several hours after two Palestinians, Omar al-Zaaanin, a minor, and Muhammad Tamimi, 19, were detained from Jerusalem’s Old City.

In the northern West Bank district of Nablus, Israeli forces detained Abdul-Qadir Hanani from Beit Furik village, east of Nablus.

They also detained Thabit Nassar, 34, a nurse and a father of three children, from the Nablus village of Madama. He had previously served 13 years in Israeli imprisonment.

In the meantime in Jenin district, forces detained Raed Mar‘i, 22, while he was crossing a military checkpoint leading to al-Silat al-Harithiya, a village to the southwest of Jenin.
