Dailies Highlight Israeli Seizure of 2300 Dunums for Settlements’ Expansion

RAMALLAH, March 16, 2016 (WAFA) - The three Palestinian Arabic dailies highlighted in their Wednesday issue Israel’s confiscation of 2300 Dunums of land south of Jericho for settlements expansion and Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon‘s call on Israel to reverse its decision.  

The three dailies reported on the funerals of three Palestinians, one of whom died few weeks after sustaining wounds during an Israeli raid into Qalandia refugee camp near Jerusalem. The two others were killed after Israeli soldiers opened fire at their vehicle, claiming the two attempted to ram the car into Israeli soldiers near Hebron.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida and al-Quds reported that the Palestinian cabinet warned Israel it will take similar measures if the latter continued to ban Palestinian products from entering Jerusalem.

Al-Quds and al-Ayyam said the so-called Israeli civil administrative demolished the foundations of a building and four stores owned by Palestinians near Jerusalem and al-Ayyam quoted the Swedish Foreign Affairs Minister Anika Soder as hoping the two-state solution wouldn’t be fatally undermined.

She said there are new European states seeking to recognize a Palestinian state.

Al-Quds and Al-Ayyam reported that the relations between Egypt and Hamas have slightly improved after discussions involving many controversial and important issues.

Al-Quds said that a rocket was launched from the Gaza strip and fell in Israel, without causing any injuries.

Al-Hayat Al-Jadida reported that the Israeli Knesset passed a new law, that tightens sanctions over Israeli employers who employ Palestinians without working permits.
