JERUSALEM, November 30, 2015
(WAFA) – Israeli police last night raided a medical clinic in Jerusalem’s Ras
al-Amoud neighborhood in search of 17-year-old Ayman Abbasi’s body, who was shot
dead by Israeli police during clashes on Sunday.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center
(WHIC) told WAFA that an Israeli police force launched a large-scale search
campaign, breaking into Ein el-Lawza medical dispensary in Silwan and forcing
all medical staff and patients there into one room for around two hours, as
they searched for Abbasi’s body.
Imad Shabaneh, director of
WHIC, said the police searched all rooms in the dispensary and reserved the
identity cards of its medical staff, including doctors and nurses.
He said the police questioned
them about treating what they described as ‘vandals’ without informing Israeli
police, referring to Abbasi, saying medical staff should not deal with injured
“vandals”.
Police further turned the
vicinity of the clinic into a military outpost.
Meanwhile, WHIC dismissed the
Israeli narrative that Israeli police targeted Abbasi with gunfire in the lower
parts of his body, saying he was shot dead with a live bullet in his chest.
Later on Monday, hundreds of
mourners participated in Abbasi’s funeral procession in Ras al-Amoud.
Abbasi is the 106th
Palestinian to be killed during Israel’s crackdown on a seemingly continuing
popular unrest which started by the onset of October 2015, fueled by Israeli
attempts to divide al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem between Muslims and
Jews.
Clashes reportedly erupted
between Israeli forces and mourners following Abbasi’s funeral procession,
however, no injuries were reported.
