NABLUS,
December 18, 2014 (WAFA) – At least nine Palestinians were arrested on Thursday
during predawn arrest raids conducted by the Israeli army and police across the
West Bank districts and East Jerusalem, according to local and security
sources.
The
sources confirmed that a Palestinian youth was shot and injured during an
Israeli incursion into the city of Nablus, in the northern West Bank. The
youth, identified as Ahmad Sharkawi, 25, was hit with a live bullet in the hand
by Israeli soldiers during confrontations in the adjacent Askar refugee camp.
The
Israeli Army raided several homes across the city before arresting a youngster;
He was identified as Husni al-Amoudi, 25.
Meanwhile,
the army broke into the nearby village of Duma, to the southeast of Nablus, and
arrested 26-year-old Hekmat Silwadi.
In
the meantime, Israeli forces stormed the village of Silat al-Harithiya, to the
west of Jenin, and arrested Rahman Zeyoud, 30. Forces also broke into Kafr Dan
and arrested 18-year-old Nawras Marie.
The
army further stormed the nearby town of al-Yamoun, where they raided a house
and interrogated the residents.
Meanwhile,
Israeli police arrested 16-year-old Alaa Salah and Bashar Mahmoud after raiding
their houses in the Issawiya neighborhood of Jerusalem.
In
Hebron, the army stormed the town of Bani Naeem, east of the city, and arrested
22-year-old Ali Hmedat and 31-year-old Ammar Amr after raiding their homes and
ransacking the property. Israeli soldiers assaulted Amr’s brother, Omar, beat
him up and left him in the cold night weather for hours, after which he fell
into a comma. He was transferred to a nearby hospital for urgent medical
treatment.
In
Ramallah, confrontations erupted in the town of Silwad, to the northeast of the
city, during which Israeli soldiers fired teargas canisters towards the
residents, causing several teargas suffocation cases.
A
teenager was assaulted by Israeli soldiers while he was on his way to a nearby
village. The teenager, who is yet to be identified, was arrested by the army.
The
army also ransacked agricultural facilities in Anoon natural reserve, to the
east of Tubas in the central Jordan Valley, and confiscated water tanks and a
tent that belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture. Israeli soldiers uprooted
trees in the area.
Meanwhile
on Thursday, a number of illegal Israeli settlers targeted a house in the
village of Burin, to the southwest of Nablus, and cut down the house’s power
wires. The attacking settlers also sprayed anti-Arab graffiti on the walls,
according to local sources.
In
regards to the situation in Gaza, the Israeli navy targeted with gunfire
Palestinians on fishing boats while sailing off Gaza. No casualties or arrests
were reported.
The
Israeli navy continues to assault Palestinian fishermen and farmers in Gaza,
although a ceasefire agreement between factions and Israel has been agreed upon
on August 26. The agrrement was supposed to put an end to hostilities carried
out on both sides.
The
agreement followed a 51-day Israeli military aggression on Gaza that killed more
than 2600 Palestinians and rendered thousands others homeless.
