RAMALLAH, April 24, 2025 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Central Council Thursday decided with an overwhelming majority to establish the position of the deputy chairman of the PLO Executive Committee for the first time in history.

The decision stipulates that the deputy chairman of the PLO Executive Committee shall be appointed from among the Committee members at the nomination of the Committee chairman and following the Committee members’ approval, noting that the chairman has the right to entrust the deputy chairman with tasks, relieve him of the post and accept his resignation.

170 Executive Committee members in attendance and via Zoom voted in favor of the decision, while one member voted against and another abstained.
