RAMALLAH, November 25, 2013 (WAFA) – A survey by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) on Jerusalem said Monday that the total population of the Jerusalem governorate by mid 2013 was estimated at 404,165 persons, or tenth of the total population of Palestine.
It said 251,043 live in the Israeli-annexed areas of Jerusalem and 153,122 live in area outside the annexed parts.
It said 56.5% of the population of Jerusalem governorate lives inside the segregation barrier.
The population in Jerusalem governorate constitutes 9.1% of
the total population of Palestine and 14.9% of the population in the West Bank,
said the new survey.
It said that 35.2% of the total population of Jerusalem
governorate was below 15 years of age, while those aged 60 years and above made
up 6.7%.
It said illiteracy rate in Jerusalem governorate was 3.9% of
all individuals aged 10 years and above.
