NEW YORK, August 12, 2025 (WAFA) - The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened an emergency meeting at the ambassador level on Monday at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, following a request by the State of Palestine, to address the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Strip.
At the meeting, Palestine’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Riyad Mansour, detailed current efforts made by the Palestinian leadership, led by President Mahmoud Abbas, with Arab and international leaders, to halt the Israeli aggression against Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip.
He stressed the importance of increasing pressure on the Israeli occupation authorities to cancel the expansive invasion plan recently endorsed by the aggressive Netanyahu government.
The OIC group firmly denounced the Israeli aggression and called on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to take swift action toward establishing a lasting ceasefire and guaranteeing the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
All members of the group agreed to address the press in front of the UN Security Council at 11 a.m. New York time and to distribute the statement of the Arab-Islamic ministerial committee, led by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
