RAMALLAH, July 23, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Presidency condemned on Thursday the incursion into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound by settlers, led by far-right Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Knesset member Amit Halevi, and their performance of Talmudic rituals inside the compound, considering it a blatant violation of the historical and legal status quo.
The Presidency affirmed that what is happening at Al-Aqsa Mosque represents a dangerous escalation within the framework of a systematic policy aimed at imposing new realities on the ground and attempting to divide it both temporally and spatially.
It emphasized that the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its entire area of 144 dunams, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, and that the Israeli occupation has no sovereignty over the city of Jerusalem and its holy sites.
The Presidency called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take a firm stance that compels Israel to cease all its violations and unilateral measures in Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.
