RAMALLAH, July 19, 2026 (WAFA) - The official spokesperson for the Palestinian Presidency, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, warned today of a dangerous escalation in attacks by extremist colonists, carried out under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, targeting several villages and towns in the Hebron, Nablus, and Ramallah governorates.
Abu Rudeineh said the attacks resulted in the burning of homes and a mosque, assaults on Palestinians, the destruction of property, the theft of livestock, and the burning of dozens of olive trees, as part of a systematic policy aimed at seizing land and forcing Palestinians from their lands.
He said the full-fledged war facing the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, where Israeli occupation forces continue their aggression despite a ceasefire that Israeli authorities have failed to uphold, along with continued policies of killing and destruction, requires urgent international intervention to consolidate the ceasefire and begin implementing the second phase of UN Security Council Resolution 2728.
Abu Rudeineh added that the Israeli government bears full responsibility for the crimes committed by colonists, as it is the main party providing them with protection, support, and impunity.
He called on the US administration to take immediate and serious action to pressure Israeli authorities to halt their aggressive policies and ensure the implementation of the ceasefire, if it seeks to support efforts to end escalation and achieve stability across the region.
Abu Rudeineh affirmed that the Palestinian people will remain steadfast on their land, stressing that these crimes will not grant legitimacy to the occupation or impose a new reality on the ground.
He added that the Palestinian people will achieve their legitimate national rights, foremost among them the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
