BRUSSELS, July 13, 2026 (WAFA) - Today, the European Commission and 15 partners launch the “Team Gaza Initiative” (TGI) at the Palestine Donor Group meeting in Brussels, with an initial amount of €883.6 million to support the implementation of ongoing and planned early recovery projects for the people of Gaza.
The Governments of Spain, Denmark, United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden and Belgium, together with the European Commission and the European Investment Bank participate in the TGI. The World Bank also confirmed its support for the Initiative and its financial contribution towards it. More countries, including Australia and Canada, announced their intention to join in the near future.
Based on the Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment for Gaza (April 2026), the participants of the Team Gaza Initiative stand ready to rapidly deploy coordinated projects (or, in the case of the World Bank, restart its paused operations) in Gaza in the field of water and sanitation, debris management and solid waste, health, energy, agriculture, food systems.
The EU-led Initiative is grounded in the shared commitment to support and advance the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803. Conditions in Gaza are deteriorating and people in Gaza need basic services to be restored as soon as possible, in parallel with and complementary to full-scale humanitarian assistance.
Through this early recovery package, participants underline their readiness to engage constructively with all partners on the ground, regional and international, this includes the United States, Israel, the Board of Peace and Palestinian institutions.
The TGI intends to serve civilians in all parts of Gaza. As a key element for sustainable recovery under a Palestinian-led and Palestinian-owned process, it will coordinate closely with the United Nations-mandated transitional entities in Gaza, notably the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NGAC), while stressing the importance of cooperating with the Palestinian Authority (PA).
