Presidential Spokesperson: Bennett’s Area C remarks are condemned and contrary to intl. law

RAMALLAH, June 24, 2026 (WAFA) – Presidential Spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh stated on Wednesday that former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s remarks to the effect that West Bank’s Area C is part of Israel are condemned, rejected, and contrary to international law and UN resolutions.

Abu Rudeineh added that the State of Palestine is a state recognized by the international community and is a member of more than 100 international organizations and treaties, noting that it is recognized by 160 countries worldwide.

He noted that such statements only further fuels instability throughout the region, stressing that all UN resolutions and international law affirm that the only internationally accepted political solution is the two-state solution that would result in a viable, territorially contiguous, sovereign and independent Palestinian State, existing side by side with Israel in peace, security and good-neighborly relations based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Abu Rudeineh concluded that the key to regional security, stability, and peace lies in ending the Israeli occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and attain their freedom and independence. Without this, he said, the region will remain vulnerable and trapped in an endless cycle of wars.
