RAMALLAH, June 15, 2026 (WAFA) – President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas on Monday extended his congratulations to the Palestinian people wherever they may be, as well as to Arab and Islamic nations, on the occasion of the Islamic Hijri New Year 1448.

The President said that the Palestinian people continue to endure immense suffering amid the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip and the persistent violations in the occupied West Bank, including colonial expansion, colonists’ terrorism, the withholding of Palestinian revenues, and attacks targeting Islamic and Christian holy sites.

President Abbas urged the international community to adopt a serious position that would bring an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people, in line with international legitimacy and international law.

President Abbas expressed hope that the new Hijri year would witness an end to the occupation and the realization of the Palestinian people's aspirations for freedom and independence through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The President also wished the Arab and Islamic nations continued security, stability, and peace.
