President Abbas discusses latest developments with Indonesian counterpart Subianto

RAMALLAH, June 15, 2026 (WAFA) – President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday discussed the latest developments on the Palestinian arena with his Indonesian counterpart Prabowo Subianto.

President Abbas also discussed several regional and international issues of mutual concern in a phone call with President of the Republic of Indonesia Subianto.

During the phone call, President Abbas expressed his profound appreciation for Indonesia’s continued support for the Palestinian people, and commended Indonesia’s steadfast and fraternal positions in support of the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s rights.

He briefed his Indonesian counterpart on the current situation, cautioning against the dangers posed by the ongoing Israeli violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, most notably Al-Aqsa Mosque compound. He stressed the importance of preserving the historic and legal status of these holy sites and warned against the ongoing genocidal aggression against and blockade on the Gaza Strip.

President Abbas pointed out that although President Trump’s plan and UNSC Resolution 2803 on consolidating the Gaza ceasefire, the Israeli occupation continue to unleash aggression against the Palestinian people. He underscored the grave humanitarian conditions affecting Palestinians and called for expediting the reconstruction of what Israel has destroyed.

He addressed Israel’s aggressive escalation of its unbridled colonial settlement construction and colonist terrorism in the West Bank, as well as Israel’s continued efforts to strangle the Palestinian economy and withhold Palestinian clearance revenues, which have exceeded approximately $5 billion. He warned that this further aggravates the difficult conditions affecting the State of Palestine.

President Abbas affirmed his commitment to moving forward with the comprehensive national reform program and strengthening the democratic process. He highlighted the achievements manifest in trade union elections, local council elections, and Fatah movement elections, noting that parliamentary elections are scheduled for November, to be followed by presidential elections next year.

He also praised Indonesia for its continued support for strengthening the status of the State of Palestine and safeguarding its rights as per UN resolutions and international law.

For his part, the Indonesian President reaffirmed his country’s unwavering support for the rights of the Palestinian people and their just cause, stressing Indonesia’s continued backing of efforts aimed at implementing the two-state solution and achieving a just peace as per UN resolutions and international law.
